Testing conducted by Apple in April 2019 using preproduction iPod touch (7th generation) hardware and software. The playlist consisted of 358 unique audio tracks purchased from the iTunes Store (256-Kbps AAC encoding); video content was a repeated 2-hour 23-minute movie purchased from the iTunes Store.

The iPod touch 7th Gen (2019, A2178) represents an interior update to the iPod touch 6th Gen models replaced with a faster processor, twice the RAM, the option of more storage, and different identifiers.
The iPod touch 7th Gen models each have a 4' (diagonal) widescreen multi-touch IPS 'retina' display with a 1136x640 native resolution (326 ppi), dual cameras -- an 8 megapixel rear 'iSight' camera with LED flash that can shoot 1080p video and a front-facing 1.2 megapixel 'FaceTime HD' 720p camera -- and support for Bluetooth 4.1, and 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi and adds Group FaceTime and AR support to the AirPlay, Siri, music, photo, video playback, and iOS app functionality provided by earlier recent iPod touch models.
Internally, this model is powered by a 1.6 GHz dual-core A10 Fusion processor and it has 2 GB of RAM and the option of 32 GB, 128 GB, or 256 GB of flash storage. Battery life is an Apple-estimated 40 hours of music playback and 8 hours of video playback.
The iPod touch 7th Gen models use an aluminum 'unibody' case design available in six different color choices -- a dark 'space gray,' gold, silver, hot pink, blue, and (PRODUCT) RED. The 'space gray' option has a black glass front whereas the other five color options have white glass fronts.
